Round 24 – Déjà vu. I feel like I wrote this already.

Okay, sincere apologies for the ‘first version’ of Round 24. For some reason a number of the scores weren’t updated when I had taken the download later in the evening after the final game so that is now rectified.

I can but apologise and update according to what is now correct (allegedly).

From my previous posts I will add snippets because there are some changes to placegetters but the resolve of my arguments don’t change re the season.

I think you will agree that the 2024 minor round season was an absolute rollercoaster for tipsters. When you look at the final results you will see that first and last are separated by just 28 tips. Last year that was a 57 point gap. Explains a lot about the topsy turvy, upset results of matches.

Col had a slow start to the season but thanks to his beloved Hawks, he has come home with a wet sail and cleaned up the final prize for $15. His margin didn’t matter as he was the only one with the perfect number of tips, but for the record, you were 100 off the margin… Hawks won by 124. I am sure you will absolutely stoked and not fazed about the margin!

Jeff had a solid season picking up 5 of the weekly prizes and takes out 1st prize. For those that aren’t aware, Jeff has a long history of good tipping in this competition so this isn’t his first win at the rodeo. Up to us to make it harder for him in the future.

Jess has cleaned up the other end of the ladder with the Wooden Spoon and the $1 scratchie. She may win more $$ than all of us!

The 2nd and 3rd prizes are affected by the latent update from the online website. Ross slides into 2nd place for a $90 win and John R, Amanda, Gordon and Jas slide into 3rd for a 4 way split - $15 each.

And per my previous update, the long range tipping is still in process and at this point, Andy W has tipped 7 of the top 8 and looks solid but finals and Brownlow might swing that.

As for the football results, Port secured 2nd place with a win over Fremantle and their destiny is now in their own hands. My gut feel still says that Ken is folding towels and someone else is driving the game plan but regardless for Port fans, their finals campaign against Geelong at home is the only thing they need to worry about.

The Crows had a flat year in terms of progress but not all progress is linear. 2025 now becomes a coach killer if the don’t make finals.

Thanks folks for participating this season. It was a tough one. Enjoy the finals if you can.
